I am a girl mom. I am raising two very beautiful, loving, stubborn and emotional tween girls. There are so many things I want to teach them that I haven’t yet, and so much advice they need to hear as they go into the teenage years. Here are a few of my favorite quotes about raising daughters.
“Teach your daughters to worry less about fitting into the glass slippers and more about shattering the glass ceiling”
“A daughter will follow in her mom’s footsteps so make sure to set a good example”- Elizabeth George
“She turned her cants into cans and her dreams into plans.”- Yogi Yamada, Author
“Well-behaved women seldom make history.”- Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, Historian
“Always be a first rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.”- Judy Garland, Actress
“Beauty begins the moment that you decide to be yourself.”- Coco Chanel, Fashion Designer and Businesswoman
“One small crack does not mean that you are broken, it means that you were put to the test and you didn’t fall apart.”- Linda Poindexter, Author
“I say if I’m beautiful. I say if I’m strong. You will not determine my story. I will.”- Amy Schumer, Comedian
“Fairytales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”- Neil Gaiman, Author.
“The most alluring thing a woman can have is confidence.”- Beyonce, Singer
The truth is, raising daughters, especially tween daughters is that it takes a lot of patience, humor, and a huge amount of time and love. We must always encourage our daughters to focus on the feelings of others, but also on their own feelings. We must always encourage our daughters to be courageous, strong, and determined.
Here’s to raising strong, confident daughters. And to us mamas surviving in the meantime. What are your favorite quotes about raising girls?
