Dear Logan Paul, suicide is not funny.

“If I just save one life…” you mean as you laughed at the body in your video Logan? If you’re not at all disgusted at the Logan Paul situation, then you’re not getting the problem. It’s not that a large amount of people are outraged because we’re offended by a dead body. It’s the fact that he laughed and tried to make profit off of suicide. That is the problem.

Dear Logan,

As a person who has lost her father to suicide, there are absolutely no words to describe how awful it would be to see someone hanging from a tree in a video on YouTube. And then to watch the people filming this video laugh about it. What would be even worse than that would be my 8-year-old daughter watching a video like that. The video Logan Paul made in the Aokigahara Suicide Forest was absolutely uncalled for and disturbing. I’m just thankful that my daughter who watches your Vlogs on a daily basis was busy playing with her new baby dolls and singing me silly songs instead of being on YouTube when that video was posted.

I should not even have to write this, but apparently I do. Suicide is not a joke. I, as well as many others, have lost a loved one to suicide. You have portrayed the subject of suicide as something that can be joked and laughed about. Wanting to take your own life is not something that should be taken lightly. Now, you have taken a group that is already stigmatized by society and you have made them the punchline for your jokes, and used this as a storyline for your video. For what? More views? Oh I’m sorry you “didn’t do it for the views” Because you “get views”.

We need to teach people that depression is a real disorder, not something that we should joke about. What will it take to stop this illness? Depression takes so many lives and this video that was posted to gain likes and views makes me sick. The bottom line is whether you consciously or unconsciously recorded that part of the video, you should have known better than to post it on YouTube. Joking, or making light of something as horrifying as suicide makes people think it isn’t a big deal. So many young kids and teenagers look up to you and love watching your videos, You should be setting an example for them instead of using such a sensitive subject as part of your storyline.

Suicide is not a laughing matter. It is a serious tragedy that affects so many people, all over the world. After you experience someone taking their own life, everything is put into perspective. You begin to feel your heart-break when someone starts talking about suicide. That is why I am so passionate about this subject. I’m doing it for all the people who have been in that situation, who have wanted to take their life.

Please, just think about others around you next time you post on social media or make jokes about something that affects so many people.

If you’re still a fan of Logan Paul after this. Please realize that he views you the same way he viewed the body he found.

As a means of making himself richer.

Nothing more.
