Boots Bows & Beaches

Promise her anything but give her the beach, big bows & nice boots!

Traveling with Tweens | Told by Tweens

January 17, 2018

My daughters who are 8 and 10 are not just kids anymore they are tweens, somewhere between a baby and a teenager. Mood swings, attitude, hormones, and eye rolls, lots and lots of eye rolls.

Because I named this series “Traveling with Tweens” I thought I would let the tweens do the talking. For part 3 of our Royal Caribbean vacation blog post I decided to turn my site over to the tweens them-self.

Kids see things from a different perspective than us as parents. The girls are going to let you know what they loved, hated and can’t wait to do again on our Royal Caribbean cruise!

So here we are

Mackenzie and Brynna.

Brynna is the short one. We are 10 and 8 and love traveling. We just got off a 7 day cruise on a huge boat…”SHIP” and had the best time ever!!

We love cruising, meeting new people, having time to ourselves and just having fun!

Traveling with Tweens from Tweens

Our Nana got us this cool magnet for Christmas and we put it on our door! It was a huge hit and we made sure to try to do everything that was listed!

She got it from Etsy It was even personalized to our cruise which was awesome!

Food

We are growing girls, of course food is at the top of our list. Cruises equal more food than you can ever imagine. And ice cream, duh. Unlimited ice cream ALL DAY LONG. Even though hot pockets were not an option, I still enjoyed Sorrento’s pizza and garlic bread every day. Pizza ALL day long…included! Did we mention ice cream all day long?

The Kids club

I know mama wrote about Adventure Ocean in her first post but we have to talk about it because that’s where we spent most of our time. We made so many new friends, one from Australia and another from Ireland. We think it’s so cool that we got to meet so many new people from all over the world. We would all hang out in the club together almost everyday. None of us had our phones or WiFi so we HAD to actually talk and socialize. We played so many games and did so many activities. It was so much fun and it was sad to leave all the new friends that we made in the kids club. I even won 3 medals…”make sure they know that was Mackenzie talking”.

Activities!

So many activities! They had a zip line, Flow-rider, arcades, rock climbing wall, putt putt, carousel, movie theater and even an ice skating rink! It’s like so many of our favorite things in one place! We loved the zip line, we did it on our first day at sea and nobody else was in line so we got to do it like 3 times in a row! It was awesome! We never got to go ice skating
but that’s ok, there’s always next time.

Pools

There were so many pools on the ship! Our favorite was the beach pool it was like an infinity pool with rocks around it, it looked like we were on the beach! The kids zone (H2O Zone) was so much fun too! It has water guns, waterfalls, a splash pad and you could climb on the stuff and not get in trouble! When we were by the pool that’s the area we were in most of the time. We also spent a lot of time in the whirlpool it was cool! I really wish there would have been a water slide on this ship though. Yeah, we love water slides.

I took a video of us with my new GoPro swimming on Embarkation Day…check it out!

Characters

This was probably our least favorite thing. I just hate waiting in lines to see a character. But seeing Poppy and Branch was pretty cool. Fiona was just creepy!

Everything else

We loved the Aqua Show! It was awesome and we were right up front which was really cool! We were in the “Splash Zone” and we were definitely soaked after!

We loved dressing up for dinner, our servers were so nice and they made our boring dinner a little more fun! And even cut my salad!

Our cruise was awesome….spending the week with our family, missing school and the warm weather! We can’t wait to go on another one! Hopefully soon! Thanks for reading!

This was great! I loved reading from a kid’s perspective! We just took our son on a cruise during Thanksgiving. He’s only 3 but he loved it. Have our next one booked already.

Hi, I’m Jamie and I’m so happy you are here!

I started Boots Bows and Beaches a few years ago to share our craziness that is being married, working full time and of course being a mom of two teen girls.

Who knew I would learn so much and make such great friends while listening to country music and dealing with teenage hormones.

And I’m extremely happy with their new #PawPledge we feel safe and comfortable here. Great Wolf Lodge partnered with disinfectant experts to maintain effective sanitization methods. Resort staff sanitizes all frequently touched surfaces in the waterpark, attraction areas, restaurants and all other public spaces continually using hospital-grade disinfectants. All guest rooms are disinfected and sanitized prior to check-in. There are numerous sanitation stations through the resort, as well as markers to keep the six foot social distancing. #GreatWolfLodge
