My first baby turned 13 Monday! I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that I have a teenager! This year since we were still in a bit of quarantine we decided it was for the best to have her 13th birthday party at home.
She requested a sunflower themed birthday party. Simple enough, right?! 13 is a SUPER big milestone so we needed to celebrate! We of course started the day with a birthday photoshoot with her 13 “officially a QUARANTEEN” shirt from Purple Aspen!
We designated the dining room to be the main party area. It’s downstairs, close to the back porch where the kids can hang out “alone” but still close enough for us to make sure everything is going appropriately. I added some gold streamers to the big window behind our dining table to give it more of a party look.
The handmade banner from Party Envy was perfect to hang over the streamers. You can use JAMIE10 to save if you are looking for party decorations! She even made the cutest sunflower cupcake toppers as well!
The rest of the decorations came from Oriental Trading. They have the best selection of party decor and everything is shipped right to your door which makes it so easy! We loved the “Honk it’s my Birthday” sign that went in our yard, she got so many honks throughout the day!
What is a party without snacks, right?! Oriental Trading has custom colored M&M’s which we chose yellow to go with the sunflower theme. We filled up sunflower gift bags with M&M’s and attached a sunflower lollipop! The kids loved these little snacks!
Kenzie always has loved Dairy Queen’s ice cream cakes so she asked for one of those. And I made some cupcakes to go along with the cake in case someone wasn’t a fan of ice cream cake.
The sunflower bags filled with M&M’s were basically a party favor as well as the super cool big sunflower and daisy sunglasses from Oriental Trading! Since it wasn’t a huge party with lots of kids we didn’t go overboard on the party favors but everyone still loved the glasses! I think they are pretty cute myself actually!
Mackenzie couldn’t stop talking about how much fun she had and seeing a few friends from school that she hasn’t seen since March put the icing on the cake. Literally. It was a night to remember and one that Mackenzie will never forget!
