Dollywood | Pigeon Forge, Part 2

While we were in Pigeon Forge two weeks ago we had to go visit Dollywood. We came to Dollywood and Pigeon Forge a few years ago, although I was nervous about going to a theme park in the middle of a pandemic it was actually better than when we visited last time!

Safety Measures Inside Dollywood

Dollywood did a great job of keeping us safe during our visit. Our temperatures were taken at the entrance to the park. The crowds and long lines were pretty much nonexistent. I really have no way to know what the attendance was during our visit but I will say I did not feel crowded at all, it was so much more comfortable than when we were there two years ago.

Face Masks

Face masks must be worn in the park by both staff and guests. If you do not have a mask of your own, or yours becomes lost or damaged, you can purchase one from the park as well. You do not have to wear a mask on one of the park’s water rides. But you can wear them on the thrill rides and roller coasters.

Y’all Need Dolly shirt from HIppie Runner!

There are also several no-mask relaxation zones set up as well. Guests are able to enter, be seated, and relax without their mask on. There’s even misting stations to cool off as well! Seating has also been marked off for social distancing as well.

The Rides

On all the major rides, an employee dispenses hand sanitizer into guests’ hands just before loading. I was extremely impressed with this process. Doing this ensures all the high-touch points will be clean.

Social distancing is also in effect on all rides as well.  The majority of rides and roller coasters are seating guests in every other row. My daughter and husband rode the Wild Eagle twice. The Wing Coaster’s unique seating configuration allows guests to be loaded into every single row on both sides of the train. They took full advantage of this and rode it twice, check out the very back seat, yeah the guy with his hands in the air is my husband, my 11-year-old daughter is right beside him!

Social Distancing

Social distancing is in effect throughout the park as well as in the lines for the rides. The empty pathways actually made for a very pleasant experience.

When we came a few years ago we missed so much of the amazing scenery because there were so many guests. It was nice to actually take a leisurely stroll around the park, enjoy the atmosphere, and this gorgeous theme park.

At the end of the day the tram ride back to our car was sanitized and social distanced as well. The park did not forget anything when it came to safety precautions, which made me feel so much more comfortable about our visit.

We all had a great time especially with the limited attendance in effect. We were all very impressed with the guidelines in place. Everything was extremely clean, all rides and food stations followed protocols. The staff was very nice and helpful. We did miss the indoor venues but understood why they couldn’t be open. We will definitely be back to visit this beautiful park!

Stay tuned for part 3 of our trip coming soon!!
