Wow! So it’s been a while! All Summer, in fact, this year was the first Summer I have worked in over 10 years! The four of us didn’t get a chance to take a vacation so before Summer officially ended I wanted to spend a weekend with us and last weekend we packed up the car and headed down to Isle of Palms to stay at the new Sweetgrass Inn at the Wild Dunes Resort.
We didn’t check in until Friday evening, between work and school it put us a little behind on leaving Myrtle Beach but we finally made it! We have stayed at Wild Dunes twice before and loved it, last year we actually were visiting when Sweetgrass Inn was being built and our first thought walking into the lobby was “wow”! It’s absolutely gorgeous!
We got to our beautiful deluxe two queen room, unpacked, and took a short walk to Coastal Crust to grab some pizza for a late dinner. We sat on the balcony, enjoyed live music by the pool area, and relaxed for the evening. The room was spacious and decorated beautifully. We had plenty of room for the four of us and we absolutely loved the huge balcony.
Saturday morning we started the day at Hudson’s Market for some coffee and a quick bite for breakfast. We decided to go rent bikes after breakfast before it got extremely hot. The girls took a little bike ride through Wild Dunes, which is like its own little town. They loved it and gave us a few minutes to enjoy our coffee on the balcony alone.
Pool and Lunch
The girls met us at the pool after their bike ride. We all made our way back to the pool area and decided this is where we were going to spend the rest of the afternoon. We got there early in case we couldn’t find any chairs but it really wasn’t a problem. There are so many chairs we didn’t find it hard to find four chairs together. The pool area is amazing and beautiful. There was more live music right by the pool which we loved!
We enjoyed lunch right at the pool at the Laughing Gull. Convenient and so good!
We stayed at the pool until 3 and walked around to look at the beautiful resort. The entire place is dreamy. I just loved the decorations, furniture, and entire vibe of the resort.
If you’re looking for a weekend getaway that involves relaxation, soaking up the sun, poolside drinks, incredible food, and fun activities, well, the Sweetgrass Inn at the Wild Dunes Resort is your dream vacation
After our walk, we all headed up to the room to freshen up for dinner and our ghost tour we had with Bulldog Tours.
We had reservations at Coastal Provisions, a restaurant at The Boardwalk Inn at Wild Dunes Resort. We have eaten here before and enjoyed it. They had a great menu of kid-friendly food for our not so adventurous daughter and finer options for Jeff and I. Everything was fantastic, from the service to the food, as always.
After dinner, we had tickets for a ghost tour on the USS Yorktown. We wanted to do something fun the girls would enjoy and they both suggested a ghost tour. I found Bulldog Tours on Instagram and saw they had a new tour on the USS Yorktown and we all were super excited about it. The tour was amazing and so interesting all four of us enjoyed it. Our tour guide Ken was extremely informative and made the tour so enjoyable. He knew so much history and could answer any questions we had.
He told us stories of the people who once inhabited the ship, and dedicated their lives to the service of our country aboard this great ship. You will gain exclusive nighttime access to areas of the ship that are closed to the public, including the flight deck which was incredible! Although we didn’t see any ghosts the tour was worth it and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area. We will definitely be back and book another tour with them when we are in town again!
If you’re looking for a quick weekend getaway that involves soaking up the sun, relaxing by the pool, food, and fun activities, the new Sweetgrass Inn at the Wild Dunes Resort should definitely be your next vacation!
