Welcome Back Matey’s | Pirates Voyage

February 15, 2019

Welcome back Matey’s! The 2019 season kicked off last week at Pirate’s Voyage in Myrtle Beach and we couldn’t be more excited!

We have vacationed here in Myrtle for over ten years before we moved here four years ago and Pirates Voyage was always on our must do list during our vacation. Even now that we live here we still love the show and it never disappoints. During our most recent visit to Pirates Voyage for the opening night of the 2019 season, Brynna invited her friend to come along and they both had so much fun! This was her friend’s first time attending and she loved it!

Ahoy, matey’s!

If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind adventure Pirate’s Voyage is the place to be! Dubbed the “Most Fun Place to Eat” on the Grand Strand, the Pirate’s Voyage Dinner Show is one of the most famous attractions in the area and is perfect for audiences of all ages. Regardless if you are here on vacation or you live here Pirate’s Voyage is always a good time and is perfect for a family night out. We love visiting with friends and family who have never been to the show before, seeing their reactions and excitement is worth it every time!

Pirate’s Village

After we arrived Brynna and her friend went straight to Pirate’s Village where they were ready to get a makeover from Captain Blackbeard’s crew. You get to choose between swashbuckling pirate or beautiful mermaid with facial makeup and costume accessories including bandanas, eye patches, swords, flags, and more. The girls chose one of each and they turned out perfect!

There is pre-show so I definitely suggest getting to the venue early! At least an hour to an hour and half early. It gets very crowded, plus you do not want to miss out on all the pre-show fun held in Pirates Village. I don’t want to ruin it but here is something you will see, you definitely don’t want to miss our friend, Salty!

Buccaneer Bay

Finally, it is time to head in to Buccaneer Bay! This interactive dinner show is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat! Watch as the Crimson Pirates and the Sapphire Pirates battle each other on deck and in the sky. The show is filled with amazing acrobatic stunts, live animals, music and choreography. All of the action is set to an original music score composed by Dolly Parton and Mark Brymer.

Bring Yer Appetite

If you have never been to Pirate’s Voyage before I have to warn you, the food is delicious and there is plenty! You’ll get a four course meal fit for a hungry pirate. The feast starts with a delicious creamy vegetable soup and cheese biscuit. For the main course, half of a roasted chicken, a helping of BBQ pork, corn on the cob and baked potato.

For dessert it was a flaky and flavorful apple pie turnover with a buttery crisp to die for! Paired with unlimited refills of coffee, tea or soda.

If you are a vegetarian they do offer vegetarian friendly meals.

Ahoy, Me Hearties!

We had a great time watching the show and feel that everyone should experience it at least once.  Grab your friends and family and kick off the 2019 season by checking out the most fun place to eat in Myrtle Beach! Brynna and her friend had so much fun and are already talking about when they can go again!

Have you ever been to Pirate’s Voyage? If so, what did you think of it?

Captive Rooms: Myrtle Beach

January 17, 2019

If you haven’t been to an escape room yet, I can guarantee you have probably seen someone share a picture on social media holding up a sign that says something like, “I escaped!” If you are looking for something to do as a family or with a group of friends that is new and exciting, you need to try an escape room.

Captive Rooms in Myrtle Beach is definitely a hidden gem! We had so much fun last weekend trying out this escape room!

Family Fun

We’re finding that escape rooms are a great way to spend family time together now that our kids are in the tween years and aren’t so interested in younger kids attractions anymore. If you’re lucky enough to have an escape room near you, and you probably do because of how popular they are becoming they can be a great way for fun, quality time together with your family.

We have been talking about doing an escape room for over a year now and just never made the time to do it. While we were in Georgia over Christmas break we found one and finally took the plunge. And to say we were hooked is an understatement. While we did not escape in time, we had so much fun, and even met another family who we had to work with to escape. Although we were seconds away from escaping we still enjoyed it and so our escape room obsession began!

What is an Escape Room exactly?

If you haven’t yet heard of them, escape rooms are a type of entertainment where a group of people are locked in a room and told to solve a series of puzzles before they can leave. It might involve padlocks, keypads, physical problems to solve and more. Rooms have a theme and a back story and many are fully immersive and try to make you feel like you’re in the situation for real.

Captive Rooms: Myrtle Beach

If you are in the Myrtle Beach area and need something fun to do with your family, Captive Rooms is the perfect room for you. Don’t worry though, they have two other locations as well in Tampa, Florida and Ocean City, Maryland!

Captive Rooms have two different rooms you can choose from if you are visiting the one here in Myrtle Beach.

Dracula’s Library

New Orleans in 1862. You and your team of investigative journalists have been following the trail of the world’s oldest vampire for quite sometime. You have been lured to a mansion on the banks of this mystical city by a promising lead in your quest to expose Dracula to the world. Once inside you and your team realize that the tables have been turned and you now find yourselves unwitting participants in a most deadly game. Racing not just against time, but against the darkness itself.

Charlotte’s Attic

The bizarre murders of Charlotte and her little sister at the hands of their seemingly deranged father shocked this close-knit community and still resonates to this day. Now, 20 years later you and your team have returned to the scene of the grisly crime. There has always been something about this crime that just didn’t add up. Why did Gerald Grundy murder his daughters and then kill himself ? What did he do with the bodies? So many questions.

We chose to do Charlotte’s Attic. We came with a group of eight of us and it was honestly an absolute blast! This room is very challenging, we didn’t escape but we were so close! This room will definitely keep you on your toes and have your mind thinking the whole time.

The lady working was really helpful and upbeat, even when we got frustrated with some of the clues! I highly recommend this escape room if you are in the area! We will definitely be going back to try our luck at Dracula’s Library!

So give that board game a rest this week, and try Captive Rooms for a family game night! Book your adventure now!

There is always something new to experience and reasons to keep coming back. Will you escape?!

Family Day at the “Floating Playground” | Shark Wake Park

June 19, 2018

My kids love being outside and every time we drive past the “enormous floating playground” they ask to go! Shark Wake Park on the freshwater lake at the North Myrtle Beach Part and Sports Complex is what they are referring to. Since it’s Summer Break and my husband was also off last week we finally decided to give it a go!

Shark Wake Park

There might not be a more fun way to spend some time out on the water than this floating water park. You can use the giant aqua park as a giant water-based obstacle course or as a place to chill and watch your family members run around. It’s the largest inflatable, floating obstacle course on the East Coast. Covering an acre of water, the aqua park can hold up to 120 people per hour. It’s the place to be to jump, play and climb this summer.

Shark Wake Park

The inflatable aquatic jungle gym designed by the German company Wibit, which has opened floating aquatic playgrounds all over the world. The park features different areas where you can climb, slide and monkey around as you splash through the park. It sits right next to the wakeboarding cable system, which looks pretty awesome too! South Carolina’s first continuous wakeboarding park opened by Greg Norman, Jr., the son legend Greg Norman. The park pulls riders by a high-tech pulley system instead of a boat. We didn’t try that this time…definitely on our list for a trip in the future!

Shark Wake Park

Shark Wake Park

Aqua Park visitors must be 7 years old or older, at least 45” tall, and a good swimmer to participate. All participants must go through a 15-minute orientation/instruction and a Coast Guard Approved life-jacket will be provided and must be worn at all times. Then it’s time for some FUN!  My daughters are 9 and 11, they absolutely loved the park. My whole family came and everyone enjoyed it! From the youngest to the oldest.

I think It was very reasonably priced, especially if you add a second session. The course was big enough for a big group and there was a variety of different obstacles to make for a fun afternoon.

Shark Wake Park

So my question is…Do you like bouncing around on BIG Inflatable moving objects? AND Do you LIKE getting super wet? If this sounds like you (or your kids) then a visit to Shark Wake Park is a must on your next trip to Myrtle Beach! And if you are local and have been debating about going…its definitely worth it. If nothing else it will definitely wear the kids out and allow you to justify putting your feet up for the rest of the day. Sounds like a plan to me!

We received a complimentary visit BUT all views, opinions and photos in this article are my own.

Hi, I’m Jamie and I’m so happy you are here!

I started Boots Bows and Beaches a few years ago to share our craziness that is being married, working full time and of course being a mom of two teen girls.

Who knew I would learn so much and make such great friends while listening to country music and dealing with teenage hormones.
