Promise her anything but give her the beach, big bows & nice boots!

Coastal Casual Chic Living Room Makeover

May 14, 2018

I received our Ameriwood furniture for free, in exchange for my honest review. As always all opinions are my own.

As far back as I can remember my mom was always redecorating the house. She always liked to move furniture around, change paint colors, and add new decor. Actually, now that I think of it, it’s still that way. So, I guess it is official. I get my love of decorating from my mom.

My mom and I spend a lot of time together, she does live across the street from me after all. Our styles used to be very similar when we lived in Maryland. But ever since we moved to the beach our styles have changed. Living in Maryland the style we both had was a primitive, country-style. Dark reds, plaid, wreaths, did I mention dark? It was time to brighten things up a bit, she went towards the farmhouse style and I decided to go more coastal. Coastal Casual Chic I think I’ll call it.

FIRST LET’S START WITH BEFORE PICTURES

(ignore the horrible photo quality)

Didn’t I tell you? Plaids galore, wreaths, dark colors. Very primitive and country. Not that I didn’t like it, obviously I did. It’s just time for a change! I have been planning and working on our new living room for a few months now, and It’s finally reveal day!

Goin’ Coastal

It’s been almost 3 years since we moved to Myrtle Beach, and bought our very first home. Our living space is open, functional and peaceful. As peaceful as you can get with two kids, a beagle and a great dane that is. I knew when we choose this model everyone would enjoy spending time here together. We wanted the space to feel lived in, relaxed, yet pulled together. I wanted it to be a space where both my husband and I can relax but also entertain our friends and family.

The first big change was the furniture. Let’s start with the couch. My husband and I have wanted a sectional sofa our entire marriage. We have been looking for a few months now but could never decide on one we loved for the right price. When I saw this for sale on a local neighborhood yard sale group, I didn’t hesitate. I am sooooo happy we found something that’s insanely comfortable, stylish, and it was an amazing price! We are still looking for the perfect rug for this space also!

Ameriwood Home Furniture

We added some new furniture pieces from Ameriwood Home and OH MY GOSH was I excited to finally have new furniture after 12 years of marriage! We never really had our own NEW furniture. Always hand me downs (which I’m very thankful for by the way.) The first piece I picked out was the Wildwood Wood Veneer Coffee Table. I fell in love with the rustic gray color as soon as I saw it. I knew this would tie into my coastal theme perfectly. It even includes a small drawer for your remotes! I hate having remotes laying all over the table so this is great for us!

The next piece we chose was the Ameriwood Home Wildwood Wood Veneer TV Stand. We desperately needed a new tv stand, as you can see from the before pictures our tv was almost hanging off the edge of the old stand. The TV stand has 2 open shelves for storage of media devices and to accessorize of course. This comes in two different sizes, one to fit a 65 inch tv and one to fit a 50 inch tv.

The last piece of furniture that we chose was the Ameriwood Home Wildwood Wood Veneer Audio Stand/Bookshelf. Whether you use it as a normal bookshelf or an audio stand, the 2 large shelves on the bottom and 3 more shelves on the top half provide more than enough space for all your items.
Accessorizing is my favorite part. The finishing touches give a room personality. I mixed some new pieces with things we already had to fill up this stand.

Ameriwood Home

Best decision of the whole project? Well, one of them. I’m pretty thrilled with all the decisions. But the most dramatic change to me, painting that dark red accent wall. Talk about a bright room with the newly painted walls, right? It only took one coat of PPG Paints, and I couldn’t be happier with the change. Thanks to my husband and father in law for spending their Saturday painting for me!

I painted the sofa table to match the walls, it was an old table that my mom had given me. I love the fresh look that the paint gave to it.

The curtains came from Amazon and the ladies at Home Depot matched the paint perfectly to them!

Overall we’re extremely happy with our new pieces from Ameriwood Home, and would recommend them to anyone looking to revamp their space! I can’t wait to share with you the other side of this room when its finished!!

Hi, I’m Jamie and I’m so happy you are here!

I started Boots Bows and Beaches a few years ago to share our craziness that is being married, working full time and of course being a mom of two teen girls.

Who knew I would learn so much and make such great friends while listening to country music and dealing with teenage hormones.
