Boots Bows & Beaches

Promise her anything but give her the beach, big bows & nice boots!

Anniversary Getaway : Part 1

July 24, 2020

Planning an anniversary getaway during a pandemic is hard. But with all this craziness in the world it was so nice to get away and feel  as “normal” as we could.

ANNIVERSARY GETAWAY

Usually our anniversary is just another normal day around here but this year we were celebrating 15 years and we wanted to take some time for us. Yes even in the middle of a pandemic.

HOTEL INDIGO MOUNT PLEASANT

The four of us have stayed at the newly remodeled Hotel Indigo in Mount Pleasant a few Summers ago and then my husband and I stayed there last Valentine’s Day and we are totally in love with this hotel.

We were flying out of Charleston Airport to leave for Nashville Sunday morning so I knew this would be the perfect location for my husband and I to spend the first night of our getaway. Hotel Indigo is at a perfect location. It’s at the center of Mount Pleasant which is only minutes away from the heartbeat of Charleston.

OUR ROOM

Our King suite was perfect! It had a gorgeous view of the pool, a refrigerator, and coffee maker. It also had a separate sitting area, the room was spacious and had everything we needed. The bed was so comfortable and how could you go wrong with a pink headboard?! We were even welcomed with snacks and beer to get us started for our anniversary! So thoughtful!

POOL & AMENITIES

We knew Nashville would be nonstop so we just wanted to relax during our stay this visit. The Hotel Indigo has the most gorgeous resort-style oasis pool, with an indoor/outdoor bar, cabanas, sun chairs and even in-pool loungers. (That is where we spent most of our time because it was HOT!)  We pretty much spent our entire day just hanging out by the pool and we were perfectly content.

ELIZA’S BAR + KITCHEN

After our day spent by the pool we went up and changed and started our evening with a drink at Eliza’s Bar + Kitchen. Because of the pandemic things were a little different but the food was still fabulous! We loved the proximity of eating a great meal right in the hotel. The hotel works with local farmers where they can get local foods. The farmers make it possible to offer upscale local foods which does not disappoint!

Anniversary Getaway

It was definitely a short but very sweet trip! We had the best time and it was the perfect start to our anniversary getaway!  Our stay at the Hotel Indigo in Mount Pleasant was wonderful and I’d definitely recommend visiting whether it’s for a couples getaway, girl’s trip or family vacation. The world is in love with Charleston and so are we.

Girls Weekend in Charleston

January 9, 2020

Last weekend my sister in law, niece, daughter and I made a last minute trip to Charleston. My sinus surgery was the up coming Monday and I knew I would be laid up in bed for a few days so I wanted to get a way and have some fun before that. My neice’s 17th birthday was a few days before and the kids started back to school the same Monday as my surgery. It seemed like the perfect time to get away with the girls.

Charleston Weekend

Where We Stayed

We love staying in Mount Pleasant and for this trip we stayed at The Cambria Hotel® Mount Pleasant. The hotel is modern and will fit anyone’s style.

Cambria Hotel

The onsite restaurant is perfect for breakfast and dinner inspired by local ingredients. There’s an outdoor pool for lounging and the lobby is so dreamy and welcoming.

Our room was absolutely gorgeous and was the prefect size for the four of us. We had a king suite that my sister in law and I shared. My niece and daughter used the pull out sofa in the separate living area. The room was so spacious with plenty of extras. One of our favorite things in the room was the Bluetooth mirror in the bathroom. I really need to invest in one of those for our bathroom at home!

Cambria Hotel

If you are in the area and need a modern, convient gorgeous place to stay with amazing staff then The Cambria is perfect and I highly suggest checking it out!

What To Do?

Believe me there is plenty to do while in the Charleston area, my sister in law and niece have never been so of course I took them downtown to show them around. We love escape rooms and found one downtown that we wanted to check out!

Time Traveler Escape Games

We have done escape rooms here in Myrtle Beach and we always love them and have so much fun. I was intrigued by this particular escape room because each room is inspired by the hidden history of Charleston, SC.

When you first walk into the building there is a Puzzle Lounge where you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer while solving table top puzzle games.

The apothecary room was the room we went in and it was so well thought out. The room was difficult but we made it through with the 4 of us and a couple of clues from Lance. (Who was absolutely amazing by the way!) We will definitely be back the next time we are in Charleston to try out another room and hopefully escape again! I highly recommend this escape room!

The escape room was definitely a highlight of the weekend. After that we explored around the city some more. Here are a few of my favorite pictures we took throughtout the weekend. Charleston is always a good idea.

The Cottages on Charleston Harbor | Family Getaway

August 21, 2019

Last year before school started we took a weekend getaway to Charleston and we had such an amazing time we decided to do it again.

The Cottages on Charleston Harbor

We stayed at Hotel Indigo last year which was perfect but this year we decided to have a different experience and tried out The Cottages on Charleston Harbor.

The Cottages

Brightest Star

Our adorable pink cottage, Brightest Star was a dream! Decorated in coastal decor throughout with vaulted ceilings and a wall of windows.

The Cottages

The cottage was spacious with two bedrooms and three full bathrooms, having two tween girls you can never have too many bathrooms! A king bed in the master bedroom and two double beds in the second bedroom. The girls each had their own bed but you could easily sleep six making the cottages perfect for a couples getaway or a girl’s weekend!

The Cottages

Another huge perk is the well-equipped kitchen! Although we didn’t utilize it as much as we would if we stayed for a few more days it was nice to have the option to cook if we wanted to!

The Cottages

I spent most of my time on the huge screened porch. Furnished with rocking chairs, a hammock, a full table, and chairs made this the perfect place to enjoy the gorgeous, unobstructed, harbor views. The sunrises were gorgeous and a perfect excuse to wake up early, even on vacation!

Close Proximity to Charleston

The Cottages on Charleston Harbor are located just minutes from downtown Charleston. We didn’t even leave the cottage except to grab dinner, but if you want to you can readily access all that Charleston has to offer!

Amenities

We enjoyed the onsite pool and hot tub. The pool is beautifully set around palm trees and offers plenty of seating. The girls loved the use of the beach cruisers to ride around and explore. The deluxe breakfast was delicious, as well as the snacks and refreshments throughout the day.

With only 10, two-bedroom cottages this very well may be one of Charleston’s best-kept secrets. The secluded location, gorgeous decor, and spacious floor plans make me want to schedule another trip as soon as possible!

A huge thank you to The Cottages on Charleston Harbor for hosting us. Thank you for your generosity. We can’t wait to return! As always, all opinions are my own.

Hi, I’m Jamie and I’m so happy you are here!

I started Boots Bows and Beaches a few years ago to share our craziness that is being married, working full time and of course being a mom of two teen girls.

Who knew I would learn so much and make such great friends while listening to country music and dealing with teenage hormones.
